Aeronautical engineer by profession and musician by passion, Carlos Meza is the founder of Overdrive, musical project born in April of 2017 in the city of Querétaro, Mexico which aims to rescue, disseminate and inspire in the digital era, the art, beauty and authenticity of Rock ‘n Roll using analog technology.

Carlos Meza has an extensive musical career, composing his own songs and playing in several Rock and Blues groups (Airplane, his most recent side project) until today when he ventured to give life to Overdrive making a reality the dream he had since he was a child.

Thanks to his father, he was influenced in bands and artists such as Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, The Rolling Stones, Cream, Ten Years After, Deep Purple, Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry among many others, which embodied a pure love towards the authentic Rock ‘n Roll and the music based on the Blues.

His first album of the same name (Overdrive), is made up of 10 energetic and dynamic songs written in English, in which an army of guitars is present and complemented by strong drum beats, a solid bass and a powerful voice. Although his musical learning was merely self-taught, the music, lyrics and arrangements of the album were created solely by Carlos Meza, who, in addition to be the founder and guitarist of the project, is also along with his friend Joaquín Fernández, the producer of the album.

The production of this album turned out to be a challenge and learning experience for Carlos, as he was involved in each phase of the process (recording, mixing and mastering) providing direction and ensuring musical quality. Complementing the musician’s lineup, he is accompanied by Mauricio Aguilar (bass), Miguel Reséndiz (drums) and Luis Ortega (voice), as well as Jahvel Johnson in the vocal performance of one of the songs.

The album was recorded in 2 sessions of four days each between September 2017 and January 2018 by sound engineer Fernando Roldan in “Estudio 19” (Mexico City), later mixed by Fernando Roldan and Carlos Meza also “in Estudio 19” in June 2018, and finally mastered by Jaime Cavazos in “0VU Mastering” (Monterrey, Mexico) and Carlos Meza himself in August 2018. The album was not only recorded on tape like the old school and processed through analog equipment, but also has a handful of passion… and a lot of Rock & Roll!
